Great Lakes Institute of Management, Chennai, announced the launch of a 'Centre for Women Leadership' under the guidance of Professor K Rajeshwari, Senior Associate Professor. The announcement was made by Dr. Suresh Ramanathan, Dean, Great Lakes Institute of Management, Chennai at the inauguration of the Women’s Week Leadership Conclave - #ChoosetoChallenge (The Status Quo). Dean, Dr. Suresh Ramanathan said “We are proud to announce that we will be starting the Centre for Women Leadership at Greatlakes Institute of Management. The centre will provide a pathway for women to get back to the workforce. It will be a certification programme in association with Corporate Learning and Development.”
The centre will not only impart functional skills, but also take measures to improve their self-confidence and psychological boosting. Mentorship will also be provided by the institute’s alumni and Corporate Leadership. The center will also try to incorporate sensitivity training and general role debiasing in the curriculum so that it aligns with the principles of the institute that is inclusiveness, diversity of thought and opportunity for all.

Dr K Rajeshwari is a Senior Associate Professor at Great Lakes Institute of Management, Chennai. Her long corporate stint in Sales and Marketing has exposed her firsthand, to the many aspects of career management for working women. She has published a book ‘The New Plan A’ where she has highlighted the triggers and barriers for a mid-life career shift, from a working woman’s perspective. Rajeshwari has mentored several women across industries and regularly talks to B School on the importance of gender sensitization at the work place.
